Michael Payne

Michael Payne: Vice President

Michael is the current Vice President of the Central Arkansas USBC Association, and prior to that, he has served both as a board member of CAUSBC and was on the Central Arkansas Men’s Board prior to the merger into one association. He and his wife Sandy have been long-time supporters of the Youth leagues in Central Arkansas since moving here in 1987. His wife Sandy has been the secretary of the youth league for 30+ years and Michael has assisted as a youth coach. They originally got involved because their kids bowled, but as they’ve grown up, they still help out every Saturday. And now they have a grandson who is starting bowling, so they’re looking forward to many more years of assisting the youth.

One of Michael’s greatest accomplishments was when he coached Mills High School from 2006 - 2009, and assisted in getting High School Bowling in the area of a AAA sport. Bowling is one of the few sports that kids can start earning scholarship money from the age of 6 until they go to college, so it’s great to be able to assist parents in navigating and understanding what is available.

Michael was honored by being inducted into the Central Arkansas Hall of Fame in 2005 and in the Arkansas State Hall of Fame in 2006. He hopes to be an ambassador for the sport and State and Local associations that the association can be proud of. This is a lifetime sport where you can make lifetime friends. Remember, it’s just a came that you play among friends; keep it all in perspective and enjoy the company. You can be competitive and nice at the same time.
